We’ll travel together on a luxury charter bus from the DFW area to Galveston, enjoy an overnight stay at a hotel near the port, and then transfer to the Port of Galveston the next morning. From there, we’ll embark on a 8‑night Royal Caribbean cruise aboard Royal Caribbeans newest and largest class of ships Icon of the Seas, sailing a Western Caribbean itinerary with stops in Cozumel and Costa Maya and CocoCay. All staterooms are ocean‑view balconies for added comfort and relaxation.

While I haven't sailed on Icon of the Seas yet, I did sail on her sister ship, Star of the Seas, and it was absolutely amazing.
When Royal Caribbean promotes these ships, they often focus on the waterslides, pools, and family attractions. While those features are certainly impressive, I have a confession: I never once went down a waterslide or spent time in the pools, and I still had one of my favorite cruise vacations.
What surprised me most wasn't how big the ship was. It was how comfortable it felt. Royal Caribbean has done an incredible job designing these ships so guests can spread out and enjoy their vacation without constantly feeling like they're in a crowd. Even though these ships carry thousands of passengers, they really don't feel crowded.
Some of my favorite places on board include Central Park, an outdoor park in the heart of the ship filled with live plants, comfortable seating, and a peaceful atmosphere. I also loved spending time in The Pearl and AquaDome, where the floor-to-ceiling windows provide beautiful ocean views. It's the perfect place to grab a specialty coffee, relax, watch the waves, and simply enjoy the moment.
When I'm looking for an even quieter retreat, the Solarium is one of my favorite spots. This adults-only area is designed for relaxation and offers a peaceful escape from the activity found elsewhere on the ship. I also enjoy sitting in the Royal Promenade, people-watching and taking in the many activities organized by the cruise director and entertainment staff.
One feature I never expected to love was the smart elevator system. If you've cruised before, you know that elevator waits can sometimes be frustrating, especially after a show or during busy times of the day. On Icon-class ships, you select your destination deck before boarding, and the system directs you to a specific elevator. It sounds simple, but it makes a huge difference in keeping people moving efficiently and reducing crowding.
And of course, let's not forget the entertainment. Royal Caribbean is famous for its world-class productions, and the shows on Star of the Seas were outstanding. Between the live entertainment, music, activities, and the wide variety of dining options available throughout the ship, there is always something new to discover and enjoy.
For me, this cruise isn't just about visiting great destinations. It's about enjoying an incredible ship, spending time with wonderful people, and creating memories together. That's why I'm so excited to host this group cruise aboard Icon of the Seas, especially with the rare opportunity to visit Perfect Day CocoCay from Galveston.
